Judy Note:The other day I was at a swimming pool with a group of ten year olds having a birthday party when it started to rain. Some immediately got out of the pool, wrapped themselves in wet towels and stood shivering beneath a pavilion, while complaining about “the worst birthday party they had ever been to.”
Others happily kept warm by running between a Hot Tub and dancing on the wet grass in the rain.
It reminded me of what Heavenly Father continuously told me when I was going through a dark period in my life. I was raising five teens alone with little, or sometimes no, income and not able to hold, or even apply for a job because of a need to care for a seriously ill daughter who eventually passed away.
Each time I asked Heavenly Father what to do, or even how to survive, He gave me the very same answer: “Be thankful for what you have.”
I’ll have to admit that at first that advice made me angry. I wanted Him to solve my problems. Realizing I had to solve my own I soon followed His advice, and gained true happiness in the journey: Through it all I have earned myself a large and beautiful family full of loving children who not only financed themselves through high school and university to become honorable and outstanding adults, but they have given me lots of grandkids whom I thoroughly enjoy.
But sometimes even now certain people threaten my trek to happiness. I receive emails complaining that this or that hasn’t happened on the Global Currency Reset “when you told us it would,” or that it was infringing on their freedom to have to sign an NDA, or they had a “right” to get more money out of the Zim or currency.
Their comments took me back to those poverty days that forced me to be peacefully humble by being more thankful. My advice to them: “Get over yourself. Be thankful for what you have.”
Some have dropped out of the Global Currency Reset because it didn’t happen when they expected it to. To me, they were like those young immature kids who sat shivering on the sidelines watching their friends having fun in the rain while complaining about thunder and lightning spoiling their party.
Or worse, they were like those children who when it began to rain, jumped out of the water because they didn’t want to get wet.
We have been chosen to receive a great blessing with untold opportunities to do good in the World. However, suddenly being given lots of riches could change a person. You could go wild spending it on yourself and Worldly desires, or you could remind yourself of more humble times in your life and dedicate yourself to lifting up others who were not as fortunate as you.
Which choice would bring you true happiness?
As for me, I prefer to dance in the rain no matter what challenges the dripping water, frightening strikes of lightning and accompanying rolling thunder may present – because I now know that facing darkness head on will only force me to grow in courage and wisdom. That is, as long as I make sure I keep my feet on that straight un-wandering path that leads to eternal happiness by being thankful for what I have.
